Leased services provided by telephone companies, both Local
Exchange Companies and Interexchange Carriers, have undergone
significant changes over the last decade. Improved services provided
at lower costs benefit the customer so long as the customer is made
aware of these services.
Long distance per minute charges have been tremendously reduced
over the last few years and usually without any long-term contracts.
Evaluations of current provider(s) should be made with respect to
quality of service, billing accuracy, and client calling patterns.
Leased services, that is, dedicated circuits, business lines,
trunks, and features should be evaluated with the same criteria as
long distance and also with respect to usage. Significant percentages
of leased services are not utilized by clients and can be
disconnected. HCG personnel can also assist in chronic areas such as billing problems,
service issues and fraud.
